August 6, 2008 - The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), The MITRE Corporation and Airports Council International–North America (ACI-NA), in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) present the conference, “Airport SMS: From FAA Pilot Program to Implementation” to be held October 30-31, 2008 in Baltimore, Maryland. In November 2006, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) amended Annex 14, Volume I (Airport Design and Operations) to require member states to have certificated international airports establish a Safety Management System (SMS). In February 2007, the FAA released Advisory Circular 150/5200-37 which begins the process of introducing SMS into the U.S. airport community. The FAA intends to propose new rules to Part 139 in 2009. Over the past year, pilot programs funded by the FAA have been testing the SMS concept at various airports. The results of the pilot program will be released at the conference.
Ausgust 5, 2008 - Aviapartner has entrusted proveo with the installation of the Airport Visualiser at all these new and growing locations. In addition, the Airport Visualiser will also be introduced at the stations in Dusseldorf, Venice and Amsterdam.
Among the various modular Airport Visualiser features Aviapartner will be using the Airport Map for an overview of the apron fleet and relevant information related to individual units, e.g. a GSE's operation status. Furthermore proveo will be installing the Access Control feature to stop unauthorised use of the GSE and helping to reduce damage done to the equipment. proveo's Impact Sensor will be shedding light into accidents or any other kind of collision involving the GSE by recording the incident including such vital details as time, place and name of driver. In order to reduce the initial investment costs Aviapartner chose a rental solution including server hosting by proveo.
Ausgust 4, 2008 - Schiphol Group has entered into a bilateral private loan agreement for a total amount of 20 billion Japanese Yens with a duration of 30 years. The loan denominated in Japanese Yens was immediately swapped into 120 million Euro using a currency/rate swap. As a result Schiphol Group will pay a fixed semi-annual interest coupon of 5.94% (equivalent to 6.01% on an annual basis). This financing is issued under Schiphol Group's EUR 1 billion Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programme that was launched in 1999.
Schiphol Group owns and operates Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Rotterdam Airport and Lelystad Airport and has a 51% share in Eindhoven Airport. Outside the Netherlands, Schiphol USA Inc. has a share in JFK IAT, which operates Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy Airport, New York and Schiphol Australia has a share in Brisbane Airport Corporation, the operator of Brisbane Airport.
Augsut 4, 2008 - UFIS Airport Solutions has been awarded a contract by Polish Airports State Authority (PPL) to enhance its existing integrated UFIS® Flight Information System at Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport. The enhancements include the installation of the UFIS® module Data Changes, providing an audit trail for the work done on the system. Enhancements to the gate displays, part of the UFIS® module Flight Information Display System (FIDS), are also planned. Included in stage two of the project is baggage chute allocation functionality for the UFIS® module Flight Information Processing System (FIPS).
Ausgust 4, 2008 - New restaurant and beverage brands at Sacramento International Airport are now open and ready to welcome travelers, announced HMSHost Corporation. The new Terminal A food and beverage outlets include Sacramento's own Lemon Grass, along with Quiznos, Saladworks and Zia. Three new Starbucks Coffee locations are also open in Terminals A and B. In addition to the new brands, HMSHost renovated other airport favorites California Pizza Kitchen, Burger King and Pyramid Ale House. Rounding out the exciting food and beverage offerings are Gordon Biersch, Chili's Too, Sbarro and Prospector's Pub.
Ausgust 4, 2008 - SRA International, Inc, a provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations, has completed the acquisition of Era Corporation, a privately held provider of advanced surveillance technologies for the air traffic management, airport operations, military and security market. Era is a pioneer and leading supplier of next-generation surveillance and flight tracking solutions. The company has nearly 300 employees and develops multilateration, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and other technologies that deliver high-performance, high-reliability surveillance solutions to more than 100 customers in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia. The company is headquartered in Reston, Va. with production facilities and research and development centers in the U.S. and Czech Republic.
