PREFACE

The editors, Karin & Manfred Momberger, wish to extend their thanks to all those in the flight catering industry who made this Directory possible. In particular the large flight kitchen operators were very supportive of the project, as was IFCA, who encouraged us to go ahead with it.

Some hints for using this Directory which consists of four parts:

A table of contents, listing flight kitchens and catering companies in alphabetical order under their respective short names, along with airports served.
An index by flight kitchens showing their group affiliations and the page reference numbers.
An index by airports, showing at a glance the names of flight kitchens at a given airport, plus the page reference numbers.
Portraits of flight kitchens worldwide, listing their capacity, technical equipment and contacts for diverse business partners. Portraits are arranged in alphabetical order under their company names, with group affiliations in brackets, followed by airport locations (three-letter codes).
NEW: A list of airports with more than 1 million passengers p.a.

Individual portraits are accessible through hyperlinks in the Table of Contents and the indices!

Major flight kitchen operators are listed twice when justified by the amount of information supplied: once as a company or group with general information, and also as individual units with the airport name. Kitchen addresses etc. are also briefly listed under the respective regional headquarters for major groups. Where it is known, the owners/partners in joint ventures are named in an attempt to shed some light on the effects of mergers and acquisitions in the industry. However, these data can only be approximate as they are changing frequently, and some details of ownership sometimes are so complicated that they would exceed the scope of this book.

Taking account of the fast pace of change in the industry, the directory does not come in a hard-cover version but is supplied on CD-ROM from our data base. This data base is constantly updated as we also publish a newsletter on flight kitchen development worldwide twice a month. Our Aviation Catering Newsletter is available to complement the Directory on a regular basis. Information gathered during this work is continually being integrated in the Directory. Although we have done our best to compile reliable and correct information, no responsibility can be accepted for any error contained in this Directory.
